Reidun is a harpist based near Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Her repertoire spans a variety of styles, from Irish to classical, jazz and modern love songs. She can provide wedding ceremony music, music for funerals, and background music for drinks receptions or during meals. Reidun has over 25 years of experience and has played all over Europe, at harp and folk festivals and various types of events. She plays solo or in different duos/bands, e.g with a singer, low whistle player, guitarist, violinist. Feel free to out her different projects in the “About”- section.

Short Biography

Reidun, originally from Belgium, has played Irish Harp since 1989, and cross-strung chromatic harp since 1999. Classical harp training in Liège, Belgium, and Harp and Musical Education studies at Musikhochschule Aachen, Germany. She lives in Kerry, Ireland, since 2008.

Teaching activity: regular workshops for Irish harp in Ireland, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and France; teaching Harp & Irish music in Co. Kerry, Ireland, via Reidun’s Harp Centre and Killarney School of Music.

Performing: played with several folk/trad bands in Belgium (Amorroma/Les Tisserands, CD & DVD projects) & Germany.  Duo “Amala” with Paul de Grae on guitar. Duo with uilleann piper Barry Lynch. Trio with Barry Lynch & Brendan O’Sullivan (fiddle).

Long Biography

Reidun discovered the celtic harp (Irish harp) in 1989 and teaches it since 1993. She studied the classical harp with Sophie Hallynck at the “Academie Royale de Musique” in Liege, Belgium, for two years, and at the “Musikhochschule Aachen” (Music College) with Helga Storck, combined with studies in musical education. She played in several folk/trad bands, such as “Amorroma/Les Tisserands” (Belgium; CD & DVD projects), and AeNicht (Germany) or “Fasire” (Germany).

In 1999 she started to play the cross-strung chromatic harp. She lives in Kerry, Ireland and has written a harp tutor for the celtic harp (2009), 120 pages with CD, in German (“Mein Schlaues Harfenbuch”), a harp tutor for kids: “My little Irish Harp Book – First Steps Made Easy for the Young Beginner” (2018) and “Making Progress on the Irish Harp – Songs and Tunes from Ireland” (2020).

She also published a series of workbooks for her young Irish students, called “Let’s have a Tune!” with tunes in ABC, chords for accompaniment, workheets to practice staff notation & a notes & chords library (2013).

She regularly teaches/gives harp workshops in Belgium, Germany (for ex. the”‘Harfentreffen”, the “Harfensommer”), the Netherlands (‘Iers op Texel’), France (for ex.’Rencontres de harpes celtique de Dinan’) and of course in Ireland, e.g at “Reidun’s Harp Centre” in Glencuttane, Beaufort, Co. Kerry.

Reidun plays as a soloist as well as with various groups/singers, for example:
